boo64 · 21/07/2007 18:54

Hi
would be interested in the playgrounds round here too! We go to Friary Park a lot but it is nice to have a change of scene.

We seem a bit short on playgrounds in N20!

Went to the fab new one at Parliament Hill in Hampstead - it was incredibly good. Definitely worth the journey!

biscuitbiscuit · 01/08/2007 08:33

B0064 - that sounds incredibly good, where in Parliament Hill??

yes, we are short of playgrounds in N20.
apparently there's one off Barnet Lane near the table tennis club but I've not found it yet.

friary park is good...
have you checked out swan lane? it's got a duckpond and a little playground. the cafe there is currently closed but apparently someone's going to open it up soon... swan lane needs some love and a lick of paint but it's pretty charming.
the council don't have much money to spend on it but they've encouraged me to try and set up a "Friends of..." group. basically "Friends of" groups can apply for government funding for new play equipment and other renovations for it!

anyone potentially interested in joining me??!

boo64 · 02/08/2007 21:48

I will happily support you Biscuit - I've never been but will head down there and take a look.

MishMish07 · 02/08/2007 21:57

Hiya all!
Are there any mums out there from the Mill Hill / Edgware area? My baby's due in Septembter.... as my daughter's 8, i've forgotton what the baby scene is all about!!

mickle · 10/08/2007 12:42

I am new to Barnet and new to mums net and I have a 20 month old toddler.

Does anyone know of any toddler groups that run on the weekends ?

LornaL · 10/08/2007 14:45

Biscuit

There is a lovely park behind the old Registry Office - is called the "Old Court House" - has a lovely cafe in there too. You can also park there (car park opens at 1030 hrs) - you drive along Wood Street (as if heading towards Barnet General), go past Maor Road and then turn left into a little alley and follow to the bottom (there is a signpost on the other side of the road saying Bowling Club or something like that). Tricky to find the first time, but well worth the effort.

biscuitbiscuit · 12/08/2007 21:55

Lorna - that sounds excellent. Might get a chance to try and find it tomorrow. It's just nice to have somewhere different to go.

thanks Boo - still trying to get hold of the council guy about getting a park friends group off the ground. I will let you know if I get anywhere with him (apparently they normally have five staff in the council parks office and they're down to one, so he's very very hard to get hold of!)

OP posts:
boo64 · 13/08/2007 14:00

Do you have to pay for parking at this park behind the court house ( just so I know whether to make sure I have some change!)
I think I will give it a go - we get very bored going to the same ones all the time!

sandrajankov · 05/10/2007 18:15

Aaronsmummy05, are there any tiny babies coming to the playgroup at the catholic church?

lecohen · 06/10/2007 11:19

Hiya,

I am in NW London - Golders Green so not that far :-)

I have a girl who has just turned 1

stpauls · 23/11/2007 20:12

Hey everyone, I'm organising a Baby & Child Used Goods Sale on Saturday December 15th at St Paul's Church Hall on The Ridgway in Mill Hill, NW7.
Doors open at 9.30am, why don't you all agree to meet up there, get some cheap, good condition baby equipment at the same time and sit down for tea, cake and a natter as well! I'll put some extra chairs out and you can also speak to our pre-school staff and see if you fancy sending your little ones to St Paul's Pre-School in a few years time. (We take from 2yrs 9mnths.)
Want more info about the sale - e-mail me at [email protected]

Justine
