Surrey Lofts

We are about to agree a contract with Surrey Lofts and I would like some independent reviews. Any advice if anyone has used them? Or if anyone has any other contractors they can recommend who can manage the project from beginning to end.

Unfortunately I'm another person to have had a horrendous experience with Surrey Lofts. Damage to my property, and multiple areas of dangerous, negligent work.

I'd also agree with the bullying mentality - they put scaffolding up over your property and then refuse to take it down until you've paid every invoice which effectively means you can't hold money back until issues are corrected. I tried - had scaffolding up for over 7 months but it's illegal to get another company to remove it, which they know full well. I was terribly affected emotionally by the whole experience so in the end paid the invoices just to end the sorry saga.

Anyone thinking of using any one of Mark Grimshaw's building companies (he has several), my advice would be, do not touch with a bargepole.

FYI Surrey Lofts Group was owned by the dreaded Mark Grimshaw but he put this into liquidation along with his other companies back in 2022. The only trading Surrey Lofts is now owned by Louise & Leigh Phillips which is a reputable firm. I feel bad that they are being mixed up with Mark Grimshaw as he has nothing to do with their company.

FYI my post was 2018 and thus my comments stand as he was the owner and the whole set up was dodgey. If the new owners wish to distance themselves from him and his practices they should rebrand.

Such a bad experience with Mark Grimshaw and his company. A total rip of merchant who will do anything to secure the job and tell you the right things just to lure you in and take your money.
He cuts so many corners, and is a cheat. He employs cheap labour and never sees things through. The experience with this man left me and my family distraught, loosing multiple thousands of pounds.

Avoid this company, he operates as Surrey Developments, and also as FMT Construction. He often changes companies and this can be seen on companies house. He has folded many companies over in the past, his director name is Mark Leslie Grimshaw, where he has folded many companies over after ripping of customers. Now he's changed his name to Mark Leslie Frederick Grimshaw and runs FMT Construction.

As others have said avoid this builder from walton on thames.
