We have been looking at living in suffolk now for the past year. We are making the move and will be moving in a months time, however I am still unsure about where exactly to move to???? I like Framlingham but felt there was a bit more going on in Woodbridge. I have two children and one would need a secondary school place the other primary. I worry it would be too quiet for my eldest? I also love Bury St Edmunds and surrounding villages. Any help please would, I would be very grateful.

Where are you moving from, as all things are relative. We moved to Suffolk from London 11 years ago. 3 of my children attended secondary schools and the youngest attended our local primary. Suffolk is quieter than London, but they soon found interests, for example they continued playing football and all got involved with their school productions.

Framlingham, Woodbridge and Bury St Edmunds all have secondary schools with excellent results and reputations. Framlingham and Woodbridge are nearer to the coast, which is one of the things we've appreciated about living here, but Bury St Edmunds has better shops and a hospital.

Thank you thats very helpful. I'm just trying to get to grips with the schools at the moment. Ive realised that I'm not actually looking for a primary now but a middle school. I am originally from London which is why I think I'm drawn to somewhere with a bit more life, like Bury St Edmunds. Having a hospital and restaurants/shops nearby was partly why we chose it but I completely get why you'd want to be nearer the coast. I'm drawn to that sort of life too.

They are phasing out middle schools though. I’m a bit out of touch with which area’s middle schools are to go when as my DCs are older. You can still get to the coast quite easily from Bury St Edmunds as the A143 takes you straight there. It’s a road I dislike intensely, because I always get stuck behind trucks &/or farm vehicles going at least 10mph under the speed limit & it’s bendy enough that I can’t overtake them! That is a very personal dislike though, most people round here don’t seem to mind the A143 😀.
