Nurseries in Morningside

Hello! I have just joined mumsnet as my husband, 2 year old and I are planning a move to Edinburgh.

There are three areas that we are looking at, one of which is Morningside.

I would appreciate any personal experience of nurseries in Morningside. I have the below list if it helps:

The Cornerhouse, Spylaw Road
Bright Horizons, Bruntsfield
Stepping Stones, Chalmers Crescent
Meadows Nursery, Millerfield Place

Thank you!

Hello - sorry you haven’t had more replies. The only one of these I know is cornerhouse and have heard great things from several friends about it. Hefty waiting list from memory!
We viewed bright horizons and weren’t that impressed. Forbes Road seems universally loved but again crazy waiting lists!
Good luck with the move.

Forbes has three nurseries in area now as they took over little voices and also have Greenhill. The old little voices (the one in Bruntsfield place) has a great garden and people o know there are very happy - lots of space spread over three floors dependent on age

We loved little voices and have friends at both Forbes so one of those three would be my choice.
I didn’t like bright horizons.

If you’re further south into south morningside then City Nursery in Greenbank is great and a friend really likes the little Nursery by St. Peter’s school (don’t know it’s name).

Another vote for Forbes Bruntsfield. Wonderful nursery.

I knew two people who removed their children from Bright Horizons Bruntsfield after becoming unhappy with care there. But this was a couple of years back so the situation may be very different now.

Not in the immediate area, but another one to throw into the mix is Kidzcare, Norwood House on the corner of Kilgraston Rd/Dick Place. Spent 7 happy years there altogether with both kids who went from 9mths to starting school.Lovely staff, fantastic managment, nice garden, lots of trips out.....high recommended.

Thank you everyone for your responses!
Forbes has no availability for August... in fact a lot of places have no availability (when I have been telephoning possible nurseries asking for a place in August, I imagine the staff laughing at how ridiculous my request is!).
I have however got several possibilities - including Kidzcare - so I am hopeful I'll find somewhere. :)
