Fathers second name

Hi everyone! Just wondering what advice anyone has for the situation I have been in.
I'm currently 20 weeks pregnant and me and the baby's father are not together. Me and my ex partner was trying for a baby, I got pregnant and he left. I haven't spoken to him since January and the last thing he said was he wants nothing to do with his baby but will pay child maintenance...
Now, I know he wont go on the birth certificate as he's said he wants nothing to do with our baby but I want to know if I can still use the fathers second name for the baby?

In your circumstances do not use his surname. Use yours.

You can however why would you want to?

There's nothing to stop you but I really, really wouldn't in your shoes. It will just create complications for you in the future. Just give baby your name.

Thank you! I'm just hearing different things from people. Some are saying it's best for the baby to have the fathers name and some are saying no. Some people have said a story he won't be a the register of birth it's gonna be harder to with child maintenance but then some have said if the baby has his second name it's more proof to them he is the father? I know the last thing he said was he will pay child maintenance but I don't believe him what so ever. So i will be going through child maintenance! I've never been in this situation and never thought I would be so I'm really confused with it all.

Having his surname will not give any more proof that he is the father.

Having your name, as you will be a single parent from the start, makes day to day life far easier.
