Need help: Trinity CE Primary School Bromley

Hi!

I recently moved to UK and my daughter would be joining in the middle of the year in Year1. We had applied to several good schools in Orpington area like
Darrickwood, Crofton Infant, La Fontaine hoping to get an admission to any of those schools as they are all in our catchment area.

I received a letter from Bromley council today offering my daughter a place at Trinity CE Primary school.

Could you please help me understand with how the school is? I could not find many reviews or discussions around it? This would just help me feel more settled.

How does the waitlist process works and would I be told the spot I am on in the waitlist? Do I need to keep following up with the Bromley council of I am still interested in my preferred school?

I appreciate your time and help on this.

Thanks.

Hi, sorry to hear you didn't get your preferred schools. I think i remember your previous post and i mentioned the above schools are very oversubscribed.

My daughter attended la fontaine academy when it was on the grounds of trinity school. Several of the children from trinity had moved to la fontaine academy due to not being happy with the school. I think that now that the school has become an academy it has got a lot better. I knew someone that worked at the school in a year 3 class last academic year and she didn't like it.

I think the best thing to do is visit the school and see what you think. As that's the school you have been allocated you won't have much choice but to go for it unless you know of any other schools that have a space right now.

You can ring up Bromley and ask them where you are on the waiting list, they will tell you. With darrick wood being the nearest you would likely be high up as it will likely be based on distance. Bearing in mind darrick wood is a good school so you will find less children leaving.

Your choices are to send your child to trinity until a space comes up at your preferred school. Trinity would have been the nearest school to your home that have space which was why you were allocated it

Find schools that have spaces now but would not be local. It depends how far you wish to travel but harris axademy beckenham and shortlands will have space, maybe oaklodge in west wickham. You could try ringing all the schools and seeing if they have space. Bromley council or the schools may be reluctant to give you this information.

Thanks again for providing me with the information. I appreciate it.

I am just not sure how to get out of this mess. Bromley council told me that this is the only nearest school where there is any vacancy.

I don't mind driving at all if I can get a better school for my daughter. This school is not my choice and I haven't heard good reviews about it either.....making me all the more nervous and helpless.

I so wished for LaFontaine but it is full. Now I can just hope for things to change.
