DD keen to get her ears pierced for her 13th, our local hairdresser doesn't do it. Any recommendations, other than Claire's accessories? Thanks

I would go to a proper piercing place , not one that uses a gun . Less trauma 😀

I took my 13yo to a tattoo/piercing studio and they were brilliant. It's safer and they give you decent care advice. I thought it would be intimidating for her but they do a lot of kids ear piercing so know how to make it easy for them.

Definitely second finding a piercing shop where they'll use a needle rather than a gun. As a kid I was taken to Claire's, or the equivalent and they used a gun and those piercings took forever to heal and got infected so many times. As an adult I've got lots of piercings up both ears now and my nose, all done at a specialist shop down the road, no issues with any of them 👍
From the outside they might look intimidating in a way, like a tattoo parlour, but they know what they're doing

Thanks all, I would never have thought of that! DD will see it as part of the adventure.

We used Tattoo Crazy in Hobson Street for my DD. Also if your DD is nervous at all I would recommend watching the youtube clip of Stephen Fry getting his ear pierced to give her some idea of what will happen - although possibly watch first because IIRC there's some swearing and/or discussion of other body part piercings . . . . .
