Hi,
We're a family of 4 relocating to Edinburgh from London. We don't know much about the city . I'm currently trying to sort schools for the children and need recommendations. My DD got admission in ST,Georges school and MY DS got admission in cliffton hall so bit confused how they will commute ?
Any advice on nice family friendly neighborhoods would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you x

HI Nad77

I can’t help with those schools, we attend another independent school in Edinburgh. What I can say is most schools out on buses from all areas around to Edinburgh to help parents with the commute.
If you need Any more information I’m happy to help any way that I can.

My advice would be to put them both in Clifton Hall and save yourself a LOT of hassle! Good luck.

Can your Dd get a place at Clifton hall too? There was a school bus that one of our Brownies used to get from Corstorphine. Otherwise it’s a pretty straight drive but getting to both in rush hour may be impossible.

How old are your kids? Can they travel by themselves or do they need to be supervised on the journey? If you need to take both together in the car twice a day, having them at the different schools will be a nightmare!

Neighbourhoods-wise - Morningside, Stockbridge, Trinity, Corstorphine, Craiglockhart, Merchiston, are all popular areas for families (there are many more), but it depends on what sort of place you’re after?

Listening in. We are a family of three moving to Edinburgh in August from the states. My dd will be going to St. George's as well. We are looking for flats to rent near the school so trying to learn as much as we can about neighborhoods, etc.

Hi Nad77, sorry this is so late. Clifton Hall have a school bus that goes through Edinburgh. So, depending on where you end up living, that could be fine. coming home, the bus only leaves the school around 4:45, so it makes it quite a long day.

What years will your kids be in? (I agree with Groovee, having them both at the same school would be much easier all round; and Clifton Hall and St Georges are really quite a distance from each other)
