Moving to Nottingham

Hi. I would appreciate your advice. My husband, 6 month old daughter and I are moving to Nottingham. I will be working at QMC but also at City hospital. Which neighbourhood do you recommend living in? And we are looking for a good nursery.

Thanks

What's your budget?

PurpleDaisies · 19/03/2018 11:15

Wollaton is nice.

arlin2018 · 19/03/2018 11:33

Our budget is £ 1000-1200.

Presumably that’s renting!

NukaColaGirl · 19/03/2018 11:35

Beeston is nice too.

arlin2018 · 19/03/2018 11:35

Do you know if there is a good nursery in Williston?

Sorry. Yes. About 1000-1200 a month. Buying seems a bit risky, since we don't know Nottingham very well.

west bridgford is where all the families live, good school and facilities. QMC and City have good flexible nurseries

Charmatt · 19/03/2018 12:07

I would advise West Bridgford, or further south in to Rushcliffe if you prefer a village with good routes to Nottingham, the QMC and the City hospital.
School places are currently at a premium in West Bridgford but good and outstanding nurseries and schools can be found in Keyworth, just a few miles out. There is a good rental company in Keyworth, a good sized village with a doctors, good shops, a gym, etc.

Beeston and Wollaton are nice and convenient for the hospitals. Beeston - Chilwell - Bramcote wider area is all pretty good, plenty of good nurseries and schools, though do check about exactly which and where you are in the catchment.

QMC certainly has its own nursery, probably City too.

I wouldn't go for West Bridgford as whilst it is nice you would have a longer commute than if you were in Beeston/Wollaton/Bramcote. These are all lovely places but much closer to the hospitals.
There will be good nurseries in all those places too.
