Afternoon tea recommendation

Looking for a very special afternoon tea as a treat for my aunt on a Wednesday. Price is no object. Needs to be in Bromley area (e.g. Bromley, Petts Wood, Orpington, Chislehurst).

I live far away so have to go on recommendations of somewhere that will be reliable in terms of quality of food and service.

Any ideas, please?

If your Aunt also like garden centres then Polhill Garden centre has a lovely restaurant that does cream teas and lots to look at at the garden centre too. If you want a good community feel then the community run Croft Tea Rooms is lovely. No views, but handmade jam, scones baked on the premises and you can have a super-dooper tea with sandwiches too. It is very small venue but very tasty and nice to also know the profits go to help the locals. crofttearoom.co.uk

Can try "the Teashop" in Downe. Very picturesque little village about 10 minute drive from Locksbottom. Depends on what you're looking for, if you're looking for the wow factor (like the Ritz or Claridges), it's definitely not the place for you (you might want to try looking at country hotels), but they honestly do the best scones I've ever tried (looks more like Granny's tea shop).

Thank you, both. In the end we chose Downe and it was perfect.

Also been to Croft Tea Rooms on another occasion and that's a fantastic little place - great coffee.

Dear LockedoutofMN
Sorry for the late reply. So happy you liked the Teashop! I'm very sad to say it closed down in October, nothing to do with difficult trading conditions (it was very successful) but landlord issues I believe; so great you managed to try it last summer. I think the lady is hoping to open something else in the area, but we'll see. Best wishes.
