Hi, for those who live/have lived there or know the area reasonably well, what are the main pros and cons of Waterbeach please?

I don't live there but know there is a huge amount of development planned for a new town to the north, google it, so bear that in mind depending on what you are thinking of. Also where are you working as commuting more than 1 mile in Cambridge isn't worth it!!

Thanks! We’re working 2 mins walk from Cambridge station and the waterbeach house we’re looking at is v close to waterbeach station.

I know it - it’s nice - do you have a car as I wouldn’t fancy living there without one - not for commuting just general - quite different from Cambridge mind

Hi MsDeerheart

Yes, we would have a car. Is there anything in particular you think makes is different from Cambridge or is it just city/town versus village?

Is it generally a well though of place? Just wondering because I have asked on here before for people's suggestions of nice villages around Cambridge and I'd not really hear it mentioned much.

Do you have any examples of what is nice about it?

Sorry for the inquisition!

Thanks

I like Waterbeach, I think it's a nice village and is ideal for commuting by train into Cambridge and London. You would need a car anyway, wherever you live (except perhaps central Cambridge). There's also a cycle path along the river to Cambridge and Ely. The A10 is very busy at rush hours, like any other road into Cambridge.

Thanks! My husband will be working near to Cambs train station so would be ideal interns of getting to work!

Isn't there a plan to relocate Waterbeach station? I haven't been following the story particularly closely as it's not my end of town but if proximity to the station is important to you, I would follow up on this: www.cambridgeindependent.co.uk/news/south-cambridgeshire/station-relocation-is-key-to-more-homes-planned-for-waterbeach-1-4993548

It’s friendly and pleasant to live in - it’s more rural feeling than say Histon - at least at moment!
