Moving to derby

Hi all, im thinking of moving to either Derby or Solihull. In Derby im thinking of Littleover, Mickleover or Chellaston . My other choices were Allestree or Spondon but i think the first 3 areas were nicer. I have ruled out Darley Abbey as nothing there, Duffield and Borrowash as too expensive unless i find a great bargain. I need to access the M1 as easily as possible, Has anyone got any thoughts?

Some people from Oakwood got to Little Eaton primary id they have transport and get a place. Secondary is tricky - you may get a place at Llandau and there is meant to be a new free school starting but that will be an unknown and in the city - we assume as no plans out on location yet

Another who lives in Spondon, just want to say that there aren’t lots of council estates as a previous poster said. There is one, to the south but lots of those properties are owner occupied. There’s a big mix of housing from terraced to large detached with everything else in between. There’s a lovely village atmosphere, with events at Christmas and bonfire night, plus Spondon Day! My dd is at West Park and it’s an excellent school.

Speaking of Christmas events ... I don't know if you're planning to be in the Derby area this weekend, OP, but on Saturday there's the annual "Spondon Alight" when the Christmas lights are switched on. Granted the lights are hardly stellar (!!) but it's a lovely community event with the roads closed, stalls and entertainment, all the shops open, a fair and more

I just thought it might be a nice opportunity to mingle and get an even better feel of the community vibe for you all?

Shame Puzzled, im back to visit 2nd week of Dec so will miss it.
