Hello all. New to the city and need a haircut! Looking for hairdresser recommendations for a stylist or salon that are good with curly hair - have had a few too many triangle haircuts in my time not to be wary... Thanks!

Some people disagree but I have always found all the staff at Cheynes good. They are expensive though.

How expensive is expensive, Starry? My last hairdresser was in London so I'm not unfamiliar with a pricey hairdo...

Dixon and reid! Amazing

Might not be so bad if you are used to London prices then!

I didn't get on with cheynes, overpriced and they made a right mess of my hair. I been going to Medusa on bread street for several years now, Lorraine and Sarah are both excellent.

I've always been to Charlie Miller's! Very £££ but always happy with outcome. I started going because I actually asked a few people whose haircuts I liked where they went and they all went there!

Another vote for Cheynes.

Craig Davidson, Bruntsfield Place. Great for colour

FindoGask · 25/10/2017 07:53

Medusa on Teviot Place is my favourite. Not too expensive (£45 for senior stylist) - Kylie used to cut my hair and she's great.

Charlie Miller at Stafford Street.

I’m curly and I like hothead www.hotheadhair.co.uk

As they say, it’s a little bit different, not wildly alternative but you can be sure you won’t get frumped (I’m curly too and frumpy is a danger for me at my age/build).

duck94 · 25/10/2017 17:05

Does anyone know anywhere that does cheap offers at any time. I struggle to pay the usual £40 for a hair cut these days.

Auldspinster · 25/10/2017 18:22

I had my last haircut at Hothead, on the fence about the cut but loved the free Tunnocks Caramel Wafers.

Amor Fryzer in Bonnington Road. A bit out of the centre but inexpensive and did exactly as I asked. Have only had a cut and blow dry though.

AuntieJuice · 26/10/2017 14:10

Thank you everyone for your recommendations! I've heard good things about Hothead and they're really nearby work, so might give them a go first. Got lots of other options if that doesn't work out though! Finding a good hairdresser is so much harder than it seems...

Freya at Indigo on Leith Walk did a brilliant job on my curly hair for £25!

Jonathan at Hair by Law in Jeffrey Street
