Moving to Strawberry Hill - seat on the train?

Hello everyone,

My husband and I are moving and the closest train station to the house we have fallen in love with is Strawberry Hill. I work centrally and will need to travel in every day. I've had an illness/surgery in the past and need to sit down for most of the journey -- though I look reasonably young and healthy so (understandably) no one is going to offer up their seat.

Does anyone know the likelihood of getting a seat on the train during rush hour to/from Strawberry Hill?

Yes you will get a seat in the morning, it's a good position on the loop to be on :) On the way back it depends on how late to the departure time that you get on to the train at Waterloo..

On the way home from Waterloo, get the Trainline app or one of the others which tells you which platform the trains are likely to go from (they're never in the middle numbers at Waterloo, always highest or lowest).

SH trains are reasonably frequent at rush hour so if you don't have take the first but instead make sure you're at the right end of the station when the next one pulls in, you are likely to be able to get on and find a seat very easily.

the timetable is undergoing slight changes, but the plan is to add a couple more fast trains, these may of course be more popular but you will quickly work our where to stand on the platform etc. for the best chance of a seat and I think most of the time you will be in luck - if there is train chaos coming home you could get to a district line station and go to Richmond and swap over to rail then. I always got a seat on the district line. That is worse case scenario - but you have missed all there recent train chaos so fingers crossed you won't need to do that.
