Hi there,

I'm starting a new book group in central Cambridge for anyone who is a lover of pre-1970s fiction - the older the better! No chick-lits, no Booker prize short-lists, just the classics. Happy to alternate with contemporary non-fiction: biography, history, science...anything...

Think of all the authors you want to read but hardly have time to? Tolstoy, Bulgakov, Austen, Fallada, Nemirovsky, Dickens, Gide, Mauriac, Scott Fitzgerald...

To meet in each other's homes, taking turns. Host provides drinks and snacks.

I'm new to Cambridge and would love to get this going. Please only join if you can commit once a month to read a book and attend the group regularly.

Looking forward to it!

That sounds great, I am up for it! I am in a local group already, but would love to get my teeth into some more substantial books too. I am not in central Cambridge, but it's only 20 minutes by bike.

Great! Once more people come forward, I'll pm you.

Daytime or evening and which day?

NewTownDweller51 · 30/10/2017 11:42

That's to be decided grumpysquash3. What are your preferences?

I work full time so evenings, but there are a few caveats. Thursday would work.

Or Sunday afternoon.
It sounds great, however I am not very flexible so please don't work around me, I'll just join if I can.

NewTownDweller51 · 31/10/2017 01:14

Yes to evenings I think. Are you central Cambridge? And what about you User1469 and glorious? Are you in central Cambridge?

Yes I'm in central Cambridge. I can do most daytimes or some evenings so I should be able to fit in with everyone.

NewTownDweller51 · 09/11/2017 00:43

Grumpysquash, I've pm'd you about the book group. If you're still interested I think we're going for the 29th Nov. Please pm me back if you're still in! Thanks.

Thanks - just located it in my spam folder Confused - oops.
Wednesdays aren't good for me, hope you have a good time though!

NewTownDweller51 · 13/11/2017 23:55

Hi grumpysquash3. PM me if you want to join for next time as it's not always going to be Wednesdays. That was a date that just happened to be one that all of us could make that week.
