top things to see in Northumberland - recommendations!

Hi lovely Northumbrian people, need tourist help! We've booked a cottage for half term (Scottish half term, week before English schools off) and we're staying in Seahouses for the week. Never been to your part of thw world before and not sure what should be top of the must see list.

We have thought we'll probably see Alnwick Castle and go across the causeway to Lindisfarne. We have three kids aged 8 to 15, they all like being on the beach and Mum likes nice coffee shops.... Also is Newcastle to far for a day trip (wet weather planning) and what's worth seeing there too?

Newcastle is a very easy day-trip from Seahouses. I'd suggest walking along the Quayside there. You could walk over the footbridge to the Baltic Gallery on the other side of the river.

A boat trip around the Farne Islands is very worthwhile. You can go down to harbour in Seahouses and just book yourself on a trip from one of the huts.

Bambrough Castle is good.

Lots of easy-to-navigate walks along the coast path.

Good coffee is hard to find in that area. I had an appalling coffee in Seahouses not long ago in what looked like a proper coffee shop.

What about amble which isn't too far away! Lovely little beach, rockpools, harbour. Lots of lovely restaurants to eat including the fat mermaid, the old boathouse.
There is also a selection of coffee shops and a nice walk/ drive to walkworth.
Walkworth has walks along the river, walkworth castle, shops, coffee shops

Newcastle is not to far away - you could go to Jesmond dene - animals, great walks, coffee shop.
There is also the Hancock museum for the kids which is free in the city centre and the discovery museum.
Also not sure if you have been to the metro centre just a little further than Newcastle if you wanted to do some shopping indoors
