Relocating/Commuting into Exeter

We are going to be relocating from Kent to Devon in the near future. DH has a job in Exeter and as we don't know the area at all, can anyone suggest nice places within commuting distance?

We have found a great property in Crediton - what is that like?

Please be honest, as it's a big move for us!

Crediton has lots of lovely independent shops and a good secondary. I'm not sure what it's like for day to day living. It's an easy run into Exeter from there but the road is slow.

Which part of the city will he be working in?

Agree with previous poster. Accessing Exeter from Crediton very much depends on which area of the city he will be working in? If it's the far side (towards Exmouth, Topsham, Countess Wear, Sowton, Pinhoe etc) it could be a fiddly commute. If it's nearer the uni, St Davids, Exwick etc then not a problem.

I grew up just outside Crediton and went to the secondary school there. My parents still live there so I still go fairly often (DH and I are in Exeter).
It's a pretty nice place to live and has improved a lot in the last few years; there is a good high street with independent shops and a farmers market one Saturday a month, as well as a big Tesco and Morrisons. The secondary school is fab and the primaries are good too I hear; I went to one of the local village primaries myself.
Crediton has a big park, a library and a decent leisure centre with a pool. Also frequent buses and trains into Exeter. The people are pretty friendly too! Good luck
