Jubilee high or Woking High for child with ASD

Anyone know what I should be looking for in a SEN department of secondary schools. Thinking of Jubilee high school or Woking high but how do I compare these two. My son has aspergers, he has social communication problems and im really worried he will be a target and be bullied at secondary school. Any advice please

My dd has asd and has just started at the new Chertsey school. I don't know the age of you DC but they are only yr 7 at the moment but will add years as they go.
Perfect for her as the whole school is only 120 kids at the minute. Then 150 a year added untill the school is full when d is in yr 11.
Staff are very supportive of her and she seems to have settled in well. She has even chosen to attend after school clubs.

Salesian have a callem centre for children with ASD but is very oversubscribed ( dont need to be Catholic) might be worth a look.

Have heard good things about Woking, and jubilee high, really depends on the child.
Go and visit them all and see which feels right. Senco at dd school asked for and had a very in-depth meeting with her primary school teachers to discuss what works what didn't, 'how' she preferred to learn etc... teacher was very impressed with them.

I would second the Collum Centre at Salesian but it does seem to me that they favour children who are high achievers.

JHS is nice and small and has improved no end (now Good with Outstanding features). I don't know anything about Woking High for ASD suppprt I'm afraid.

I wouldn't choose Chertsey High for a child with ASD as it is a brand new school and unproven for SEN support at this stage.

Thread jack - no help on the ASC, although bullying is a problem unless you can get an EHCP and into a small independent school with a mainstream curriculum.

Chertsey High School - how is it going? I was driving through Chertsey the other day and spotted the new students in their snazzy new uniforms. They looked really smart. I am so glad they didn't go for the standard black blazers. They should be proud of their charcoal, purple etc (only a quick glance). I hope they are settling well and that the school will flourish.

I would avoid Woking High as it has a lot of asbestos, but if you do, ask to see the schools Asbestos Management Plan. I've walked around it before on an open visit and the site has a lot of even, even in some classrooms which the children are allowed in on their own.
