Thoughts on Craigentinny area

Hi,
We're currently in Leith, thinking of buying a house somewhere (sticking to NE side of town if possible).
I was wondering if Craigentinny should be the area to consider. I only see it when cutting through and know nobody from there.
We have a baby, so looking ahead- is this a nice place to bring up a kid?
Any advice/opinions will be much appreciated.

I live there. It's pretty quiet and handy for Portobello.

I know a few people who life there (in the bungalow bit and on Portobello road) but their children don't attend the local schools. If you are intending on using state schools I would check those out before you decide. Out of catchment isn't unheard of but not easily come by either. One set of friends got into Parsons Green and the other 2 go private.

I live in an ex council flat at the bungalow end. My only experience of the primary school is going to a drama workshop at Dr Bells circa 1984 where the kids caused havoc at break time with us Newington softies.

Does anyone have any experience of Restalrig? We saw a beautiful house but a bit put off by the area

Auldspinster · 12/09/2017 16:45

Depends what part of Restalrig it is. Avoid Lochend - it's rough as a badger's arse.

It's by Saint Margaret's Parish Churvh of that helps!

Ah yes. That bit is nice.
