Help, new job but long A14 commute

I'm considering a job in Huntingdon. However, the drawback is that I would have to commute from the M1 junction along the A14 to Huntingdon, and back again at night. It looks a long journey and it seems very accident prone which is worrying!! Anyone have any experience of this area please?!

Yes I am afraid it will not be a pleasant trip. There are also speed cameras and speed restrictions on part of the route too to factor in.

What All said. Although going towards Huntingdon on the A14 will be marginally better than going towards Cambridge. Can you flex your hours so you start early/late?

Yes, I was considering coming in early to Huntingdon, say arriving before 8am and leaving to back around 4pm. Do you think that would help significantly?

Yes that would make a big difference. There are definitely cameras on bridges on the stretch of A14 in Northamptonshire though so careful even if road clear!

Huntingdon is definitely more doable if you can flex your start/finish times.

Bit late in on this thread. Yes, did that for 8 years.
When the A14 was clear it was bliss.
When the A14 snarled up it was a nightmare. Happened quite frequently too.

It's doable but you'll need a flexible boss and you'll rack up lots of miles on the car.
