Water filters for home

Since moving to Cambridge I have used Britta water filters but I wonder what other options are available to make our hard water tastier. Have anyone tried options that involve installing a separate tap for example?

You can't beat hard water for taste, soft water is rank. Embrace it!

We had a company come out and install a water softener on the main coming in and a separate tap with a cartridge filter that we change annually. Not a cheap option at £575 but much nicer for washing. Drinking water tastes of nothing, just how I like it rather than the carbon taste from most filters. Best thing ever!

Thank you both! Drayton, I am a tea snob and the disgusting film on the surface just kills it for me, sorry.

We1shBird, that's what I am looking for! Could you recommend the company that did it for you?

Anyone know if it might be suitable for a flat? I don't know how easy it would be to access the mains water that just comes to a single flat.

I thought the drinking water tap was usually a separate, unsoftened one? Or do you mean you have a separate unsoftened one that is then also filtered?
