Infant Observation

Hi, my name is Alice Baldwin and I have recently embarked as a student on a Psychoanalytic Observational course at the Tavistock & Portman NHS Foundation Trust. One aspect of this course is an Infant Observation. Therefore I am looking to find a willing family in Kent that will allow me to observe their newly born infant in the family home. The observations will be one hour, every week until the child is two years old.

The purpose of undertaking a baby observation as part of a Tavistock course is to help students learn about very early development and the baby’s growing relationships from the direct experience of observing, as well as to help learn about the observer role.

The Tavistock Clinic is part of the NHS and I have had an enhanced Criminal Records Bureau check. If parents do agree, then the observation is carried out on the basis of careful confidentiality.

Most families that have participated in this type of study report finding it a supportive and enriching experience.

If you are interested, please contact me to find out more.

You can contact me here or email me at [email protected] or 07963412715

You may also contact Dr Geraldine Crehan, Course Lead at [email protected] or call 020 8938 2312 if you would like to speak with her.

This website provides information on the course I am undertaking:

Many thanks,

Alice Baldwin
