Antenatal classes Bromley area

Hi, I've just rung up to book my antenatal classes using the flyer in my maternity notes. Im really disappointed to find out its just one 2 hour session and only covers birth; nothing on baby basics. Its also not that close to me as im in Hayes but the course is in Biggin Hill.

This is my first baby and i was really looking forward to learning a few basics and meeting a few local mums as i dont know many people in the area.

Did anybody on here try any of the paid for classes? Are they worth doing? I've seen a few with the NCT and then a few others further afield (Herne Hill) but i just wondered if anybody had any recommendations?

Thanks

We attended NCT and it's ok and I am still in touch with the girls but the men never met up again. In all honesty I think we should have saved the money. Others have excellent groups though so if you want to then do. I would recommend trying antenatal yoga or aqua yoga as a way to possibly meet some people. Otherwise when your little one arrives go to some classes, I met people this way. Hartbeeps, baby sensory, local children's centre type thing.

I'd do NCT classes for the social side, definitely. Several years on, a bunch of us are still close. The course content is fine as far as it goes but won't help you if you have any problems with the birth or a baby with issues. I remember the breastfeeding support woman who came to ours was totally batshit and quite aggressive, but there are plenty of other sources of advice on that anyway.

Hey there, I'm a birth preparation and hypnobirthing teacher based in Beckenham. I'm happy to talk to you about the course I offer and I'm also running a free taster event on 9th September if you want to come along to meet me and see what it's all about. My website is www.calmmama.co.uk if you want to take a look. My number is on there too if you want to talk :-) Warmest wishes, Raechel
