How safe/nice is to live in se18 area?

Hi everyone,
We're looking to buy a house near Royal Herbert Leisure Club (next to shooters hill road). Does anyone know how safe is the area for small kids? Any good nurseries around?

Towards shooters hill is very safe. There is a good nursary at Red Lion lane. Oxley woods is lovely, so is the farm on the the other side of the hill ( towards Welling) . Also consider primary school though.
