Hi we are hopeful going to be buying a house in westerhope and just wanted to see what people think of this area? We aren't from Newcastle so don't have a clue! Also, what do you think of Hilton primary academy? It's last Ofsted was rated outstanding but I've noticed it's not oversubscribed? Thanks for any advice or opinions.

Notthedoctor we are neighbours! I'm Dumpling Hall!

Have you considered out towards Hexham Op? The primary there is outstanding, and it's a gorgeous village. You can get train into newcastle easily too.

When we lived on the estate you are looking at, I was seduced by the gorgeous new builds that were affordable. I didn't have kids back then though, and we knew we would probably send private anyway so it didn't matter so much to me then. Have you looked at ponteland school? Some of the kids round here goto that one even though it's out of catchment and it's a really lovely area and well thought of.

The sele is the school I'm thinking of - I went to look around it when Ds was little and was very impressed. Head teacher has an OBE for services to education, lovely atmosphere. From looking I think it was undersubscribed last few years (I don't know how you tell, I'll attach the screenshot of what I think it is!)

Obviously it might be too far out for you, but as a wild card I thought it was worth mentioning!

Haha, sorry, I will stop stalking your thread now Grin

I grew up in St. John's which is next to chapel park.
That's a really nice area.

I too was worried about living here but after taking the plunge after how positive people are that actually live here I can confirm it is a nice place to live. I live in West Thorp and since moving in they have built a new retail complex contain Herons, Pharmacy and Hairdressers which is a big bonus.

I think a lot of bad press comes from raggies coming over from cowgate causing trouble but believe the police have really cracked down on this now.
