Hi all,

I was just wondering whether anyone could offer any insight, really!

I'm due to be induced with 2nd baby at 38 weeks. It's all booked and I've been told to go to ward 119.

Just wondering whether anyone has any positive induction stories? What is the ward like? Are the midwives nice? I'm very nervous!!

I can't comment on induction. Ward 119 is the loveliest I've been on (I've been on post natal twice too). Midwives are lovely - just ask if you are concerned about anything.

I was induced on ward 119 - at 42wks. They were lovely, both whilst I was induced and post-birth. Very positive experiences all three times I've had babies up at ERI.

My 2nd was induced there at 37 weeks. My cervix was open a bit and they were able to break my waters straight away. Baby was born 20 minutes later! I've been induced 3 times for blood pressure problems and it was really smooth each time. Hopefully if will all be ok for you too. Staff lovely, rooms fine, no complaints from me. Good luck

Hello...might be too late for you but I have been induced on 119 twice, most recently 4 weeks ago with DC2. Experience is mixed...the biggest problem is the other patients! Be prepared for lots of inconsiderate chattering on mobiles in the middle of the night and despite them switching the lights off at night, 3 of the women in my ward switched their bed lights on straight away and for the whole night...so...take ear plugs and one of those eye masks.

The midwives are mixed..some are amazing, some are lovely but a bit useless....none were horrible which is good. Also be prepared for a long wait...if you are induced and made to stay as I was, after pessary I was ready for labour ward, but it was full and had to wait 1 day and 2 days respectively to get a delivery suite as it was so busy. There was talk of sending me to Livingston at one point but fortunately a room came up in the end.

Both times, in particular this last time, once I got to the delivery suite the midwives were outstanding and I had really positive birth experiences despite the delays getting there.

If you can, try and get discharged from the delivery suite - once you are on the post natal ward you will be there a long time.

There is an M&S foodhall now (which wasn't there when I had DC1) so was able to eat some nice food :)

Hope your induction goes / went well OP!
