MNHQ said I had to come and talk on my local board so I'll start this off

This thread is for any South Cumbrian folk to share any groups, days out, recommendations or events in the area.

I think it might help if people can include an age range of who it would be suitable for, if it's accessible for wheelchairs or caters well for disabilities, costs and whether or not it's a one off or a regular thing.

Obviously any and all ideas welcome!

There is a baby friendly class weekly where you can do a quick 45 minute session and bring your baby. They are also running some free outdoor sessions over the summer for grown ups and free children's and teen yoga over the summer holidays.

Ooh - I'm in South Lakes and really wanting to get back into yoga, so thanks for posting that!

Trying to think of something to add... Oh, Dallam School in Milnthorpe has sports facilities open to the public including a small but nice gym which is only £10 a month.

Ahhh Daisy have you moved? I think we chatted a while ago (sorry can't remember which user name I was using at the time!) and you were further north then.

The yoga looks very tempting. I've never heard anything about it other than here.

Yes I was v rural near Penrith but have now had my baby and moved to the slightly less rural Kendal! I'm glad actually, there's been loads of groups and stuff in Kendal and I just don't think it's there in Penrith. Also been v thankful for public transport being existent where we live now as I had a c section and then loads of trouble with my back so living somewhere with one bus a week that went from a stop 2 miles from my house would not have been ideal!

Thought of another - lots of the hotels let non residents use their pools so if you're taking a baby swimming they are great. Lovely and warm and usually very quiet.

I've tried the bring your baby to yoga class, as a complete beginner I found the tutor (Hannah) so welcoming and friendly.

I've found lots of different drop in baby groups in Kendal.

Apart from Rhythm Time at Kendal Leisure Centre, there doesn't seem to be any other structured baby course in Kendal?
I love the idea of baby sensory, but nearest is Lancaster, Ulverston or Sedbergh.

Lots of parks in South Lakes, for older children. Various swimming, dancing, martial arts etc.

Oh, and Barnardos offer various mini courses for both babies and up to 12's.

Nearly halloween... Grange iver sands have a fab pumpkin walk along the prom on 26 Oct from 6pm.

There's a 'Scary Run' at Fell Foot park - 3k and everyone dresses up. Think it's a Saturday late afternoon, maybe 26th October?
