Darrick Wood school and surrounding area

We were previously looking to move to Hayes for Hayes school. Not managed to find a house so far yet.

However we have seen a lovely house in Orpington (Grange Road). Can anyone tell me if it's a nice road? What the surrounding area and people are like? And also the school?

We can't decide between orpington and Hayes

Thank you!

I know two people with young families who live in Grange Road. It's very nice and quite quiet when I dropped my daughter off to her friend's the other day.

I've visited the school. It's very nice. They are very strict on the uniform and phone policies (Not a bad thing in my opinion) it has a good reputation.

A good road from what I know (I live about a mile and a half away but have friends on Pound Court Drive and DD is at another secondary nearby) can get busy with the traffic at school times. A bit of a no-mans-land - people move there due to the school and so accept the compromises that it is a schelp to the station, good selection of shops etc. I know some move to the area for Darrick catchment reasons then move elsewhere once first child is in secondary so there can be some turnover of homes. It is a good school but I know some who are very happy there and some who are not. It is also a good location if considering the Kent / Bexley / Orpington grammars.
