Any information or advice on Tower Hamlets, Stepney, London

Hi there,

I'm looking for some advice and information on a particular area. What are your thoughts on the area, Tower Hamlets?

I have a potential interview with a school in that area, specifically Stepney London, E1 0BD.

I am a South African, and would be starting a new chapter in my life. I would like to investigate and research enough to know that I'm making a good life changing decision.

Any advice or information will be greatly appreciated.

It's quite a diverse area - some pockets of deprivation, some very middle class areas and everything in between. It's got great transport links and is quite near trendy/hipster Shoreditch. I moved slightly further north to Bow which didn't have such good transport links but had a huge park, funky shops and good pubs. I've taught in schools all over Tower Hamlets and generally find that children come in at a lower level than the national average but do well overall, mainly due to the hard work teachers put in with good support from the local authority. It's challenging but incredibly rewarding, I loved working there.
