Help - Social Work Visit after Attempted Suicide

Hi

I attempted to take my own life (by jumping in the canal) last weekend. The social work are visiting tomorrow (my boy has been temporarily with his dad). I am beyond devastated.

Can anyone advise what they are looking for in house? House is clean and tidy but do I need to clear out my drawer and cupboards?

In a total panic as obvs just want my boy home.

You don't need to clean your drawers. They'll be more interested in whether it is safe/child friendly and feels warm.

Thank you...hoping so as hardly slept since all this! My doing of course but torn between continuing by clearing out drawers etc (which will take hours) or getting good sleep (if possible) in order to deal with tomorrow. Thank you for replying x

Get a good sleep. They're not interested in your cupboards, they'll want to understand what drove you to try to take your own life, what support you are getting to help you recover and what further support you might need, and whether you are able to look after your wee boy right now. I'm really sorry that you're going through this - if you possibly can, please try to see tomorrow as an opportunity to get help and support for yourself and your son.
