Another schools question!

We are planning to move to Hove Park within 1-2 years and I gather that the primary schools in the area are horribly oversubscribed. To make things tricky, my 2 children have very differing needs:
Dd1 currently in reception, is bright with a wide range of interests;
Ds1, currently at nursery, has complex needs (speech delay, mild hearing loss, physically small, global development delay). We are aiming to have an EHCP in place by the time we move.
I was hoping for some current advice from local mumsnetters, hopefully this is the right forum. I guess what I'm wondering is:
Can I get them both into the same school? Which schools have good SEN provision in the area? Will it also suit my eldest? I'm also thinking about secondary schools, though I know we are very early for that!
I'd be happy to consider private for both but I'm pretty sure the complex needs are better served in state schools, though happy to be corrected.

West blatchington has a specialist sen unit but I think it's for kids with. ASC. Are you intending to move when the youngest starts in reception?

Thanks for the reply. Yes, it would be ideal for the youngest one to start reception in hove but therein lies my dilemma. As he is still developing, it is unclear what his needs will be but likely to have speech delay and will probably struggle with the reception curriculum. I actually don't know where to start my enquiries!

Hi I believe St Andrews's is quite good for children with hearing loss and is popular. It might be difficult to get your daughter in tho as I think it's always oversubscribed. If you would be willing to travel Carden Primary in Hollinhbury has an excellent reputation for helping children with speech and language difficulties. It's also generally undersubscribed so you are likely to get both your children in fairly easily. Generally I think you would be better looking at larger schools as they tend to have more resources for Sen. Good luck!

Good point about Carden In Hollingbury. You could call them and ask. Is you child being assessed by anyone, is it worth asking them?
