Hospital advice for birth

Have recently found out I'm pregnant this is my 3rd child but my last two were born in London so not sure how it works in Cardiff.
I live Canton area what hospital can people recommend? Do I self refer or go to my GP?

Had a horrible time with my hospital in London so looking for advice though not even sure if you get a choice here? Thank you.

Not sure if there still is but there was a maternity unit at Llandough
I've heard nothing but bad stories about UHW (overstretched staff) and my experience wasn't great although this was 6years ago (emergency section, basically left to it afterwards even though it was my first and I didn't have a clue and in a lot of pain)

I dont think there is anything at Llandough, the midwifery unit moved into uhw. It and the delivery suit- consultant led are both excellent. The wards are a bit stretched, but I had a reasonable experience there last year. Can't fault delivery suit for either of my births.

Make an appointment with the midwife via your GP surgery.

I had two lovely home births in Cardiff, if you'd consider that option?

There isn't a maternity unit at Llandough anymore so UHW would be pretty much your only option. I had both my children there, one on the midwife led unit and one upstairs on the consultant led part. Great experience both times, my community midwife was actually on duty in the hospital when I had my first so it was great to see a familiar face.

My wife gave birth in the UHW Midwife-Led Unit, and it was great. A lovely big private room with pool for labour and birth, then a great big double room with en suite where we could all spend our first night together as a family. Plus, the reassurance of knowing the cavalry was nearby in the consultant-led unit if needed!

I had a great experience in the midwife led unit at UHW last year. The only thing I didn't find them helpful with was bf.

I had my first in Cardiff. They were lovely! It's a huge unit and they have a lot of options. J think you need to call your GP and get the number of the midwife and books an appointment. X
