What a sight we must have looked this week when we stepped out to the doctors. My 5 month old Freya had hit herself forcefully in the eye with a teething rattle leaving a bruise under her eye. I had a week long kidney infection which had developed into hideous back pain with kidney pain and fever and had a large third degree burn scar visible on my arm (in the sleepless months I fell down the stairs carrying a boiling hot coffee and tea which burned my arm). My baby and I looked pretty beaten up, yet the doctor didn't blink an eye or question how things were at home. No wonder so many abused women and children slip under the radar.
