Moving to Newport

We are moving to Newport, hopefully by summer, with two kids, primary school age. Can you please recommended areas where to look for a house? Good schools both primary and secondary, possibly a park around, family friendly. Links with Cardiff and Bristol would be a bonus. Could you please help?

The Newport property market is mental at the moment. Everyone I know seems to be selling/putting offers in within a few days

We went emails to two agencies, explaining that we do not live locally, but are looking in the area. We linked them properties from their portfolio and described our requirements. Asked them to show us suitable properties- we r flexible but need to know couple of days in advance. You know what? We had no reply at all. We need to change the tactic now...

They don't need to chase perspective buyers as everything is selling at the moment, so they are getting easy money.

Having seen quite a few properties in the area we made an offer and were accepted in Risca. No-one mentioned it here ( good or bad?) . I hope that's a good decision. Thank you all for your input.

Sorry to jump on the post but we are also looking at houses in Newport and wondered if Malpas was a nice area or not? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

Malpas is lovely! It's split down the middle, one side mostly LA / ex LA homes, but I'd have no qualms living there, the other side is private housing, again lovely.

Apologies as this is an old thread - we are moving to near Clytha Primary but as an in year application I don’t think my daughter will get in - any recommendations of alternatives? What is St Woolos like?
