Hi there
First time here! Was hoping someone might have some advice. We are looking to relocate to broughty ferry area in the next year and have 3 primary school age girls. My eldest has ADHD so spends quite a lot of time with the special needs class at her current school so i need to make sure the local school has those kind of facilities. Are the schools in BF good? They seem huge compared to what we're used to! Any advice gratefully received. Smile

All 3 primary schools in the Ferry are excellent, although you'd be better to speak to each school individually about special needs provision.

My youngest is in S3 now, but at primary stage I wouldn't have minded which of the primaries my kids went to-they went to Forthill though as it's our catchment school.

The primaries are huge now unfortunately, it's because of the explosion in new housing locally, and all 3 schools have had to expand to cope with the need.

Wherever you're looking to settle, if you want your children to attend Grove Academy at the secondary stage (which the vast majority do), make sure your address is within catchment, because there are now no placing requests allowed for Grove due to the numbers of children who live in catchment, there are no spaces for those out with the area, even if they've been to a catchment primary school.

PM me with any questions about the area 😊

Like sparkles says, all 3 primaries are excellent, and grove is the best performing secondary in the area. There are rumours that catchments are going to change in the next few years- so if that's important to you I'd stay south of the arbroath road.

Thank you so much to both of you. That's really helpful x

Have you considered Monifieth. Grange Primary is excellent and has is resourced so has facilities for additional needs. I would definitely visit. The head teacher is amazing

Just seen the date. Oh dear. @lulu737 did you find a school

Hi, Does anyone have any experience of Harris academy, we are looking to rent a property in the West End , it's in the catchment for Harris. Can't find any accommodation in Broughty Ferry or Monifieth. Would be great to get any feedback from people who have sent their kids there.
