Harrow Woodcraft Folk operates with four groups. Elfins aged 6-9, Pioneer’s aged 10-12, Venturer’s aged 13-15 and the DF’s aged 16-21.
The Woodcraft Folk is a progressive educational movement that aims to develop self confidence, social awareness and empowerment in children and young people in our society, and to move towards building a world based on equality, friendship, peace and co-operation. This is summed up well by our motto “Span The World with Friendship”.
At Harrow Woodcraft Folk we believe passionately in equality and co-operation – everyone is welcome to join our groups.
A movement for children and young people, open to everyone. We offer a place where children will grow in confidence, learn about the world and start to understand how to value our planet and each other.
We have groups that meet every week (Tuesday), with games, discussions, badges and lots of laughter, fun is had by all! Our members enjoy co-operative and environmental activities with trips, camps and other outdoor activities are also undertaken at weekends or during summer holidays. We believe in equality and friendship. Woodcraft is for boys and girls, people of all faiths are welcome. We also welcome children of all abilities and pride ourselves on our inclusive nature. Any child or young person is welcome to join us.
We have groups for children aged 5-16 meeting weekly. Groups are run by parents and volunteer leaders and encourage all of us to learn about big ideas through fun activities like singing, playing and debating.
Our aim is to have great fun, but also to try and develop children’s self-confidence and build their awareness of society around them.
Through our activities, outings and camps we help our members understand important issues like the environment, world debt and global conflict and, in recent years, we have focused on sustainable development.
A registered charity, the Woodcraft Folk is less well-known than some other youth movements, but it has a pedigree going back to 1925 and now encompasses groups across the whole of the UK. It has a distinctive philosophy and outlook which marks it out from other youth organisations.
But most of all Woodcraft is GREAT FUN. Our group nights offer a great opportunity for children to socialise, play games and explore their creative potential whilst at camp they can experience all this and enjoy a fantastic adventure too.
