Wondering if any parents are entering their girls into the WGS senior entrance exam in January? I know the setup is slightly different this year in that there is an extra class of year 6 juniors at WGS meaning that there are possibly fewer places for external candidates.

I wonder whether that will make a difference to girls applying externally?

Also, I'm interested to hear about interviews. If you get an interview, does it mean you are through providing you don't crumble, or are they just selecting the very best from a large group of interviewees?

I think how the interview works depends upon how you do in the exams.

If for example your English was great but your maths weak the second interviewer will be a maths teacher and you'll have to "show off" your maths, or explain how you'd attempt a question you ran out of time to do. If you did well all round it's more of a check to see how you'll fit in, so you'll have a less subject-focussed interview.

They interview a pretty large proportion I think, they know people can panic in exams and not show their best so if somebody shows promise they'll interview them to give them another opportunity.

I don't know much about how if works with the extra junior class, but I presume those will be girls who would have probably applied for senior school entry anyway.

That makes sense, thank you Smile
