Milton Road or Arbury primary?

Does anyone have any thoughts about Milton Road or Arbury primary Schools? We're not too bothered about Ofsted reports and all that, more interested in hearing about people's experiences, and obviously whether their children are happy there?

Suspect it will come down to catchment in any case as both are popular, but for what it's worth I have one DC who has been all through Milton Road and another who's not far off finishing. It had a rough period but I think it's definitely getting much better. New Head is dynamic, inspirational, intelligent, thoughtful etc and personally I am really pleased. Teachers seem much, much happier. If you are bothered about SATs results etc I can tell you Milton Road's were very good this year - although I wouldn't base a decision purely on that. I met the Arbury Head once as well though and thought he seemed very committed and inspirational too. I was tempted to send DC there until DP pointed out that it's good to have schoolfriends on your street for more of a community feeling (which MR definitely has, it's very sociable). Honestly I think both are good, and once they get to secondary it very quickly doesn't matter which primary they came from. Good luck!

Thank you orchardy. We're in the catchment for Milton Rd and we assumed DC would go there. We have visited and liked the new head, but it's quite hard to know when you've got no experience of these things. We did meet someone recently in MR catchment who chose Arbury. So we'll visit there soon. But what you say about MR teachers being happy is heartening.
