Hi my daughter has been asked to babysit for one of my work colleagues - we have absolutely no idea what the going rate is for baby sitting - any ideas?

We don't pay a set rate but pay between £25-40 depending upon how late we are.

Wow that's a lot! It's been a long time since I needed to use a babysitter. Thanks for the info.

We occasionally ask one of our DCs' nursery staff to babysit. Their going rate is£8.50 per hour. (They are childcare professionals with first aid training etc.)
It does make for an expensive night out so we don't do it very often!

My DSD charges £7ph. But she is 21 and drives herself so they don't need to worry about getting her home afterwards.

But, I think if she was £5ph then she might get more regular work particularly as one of her gigs the children are already asleep when she arrives and the other one is 11 so they watch films and then he takes himself to bed so it is quite easy money.

My teenagers get around £5 per hour, rounded up and double after midnight.

That's great, thanks Ladies. I think she should pitch it at £5 per hour and see how it goes.

Many thanks
