Dartington Primary

Has anyone got kids at Dartington Primary, or know anything about it? Would love to hear about your experiences please. We're moving to the area in Feb with our 3 daughters (7, 5 and 2) and not sure which primary schools to apply to. I think Landscove is full and we'll prob be out of catchment for the Grove. I'm unsure about Steiner but open to persuasion. We're looking to move somewhere between Totnes and the A38 ideally as husband will be commuting to Exeter but we love Totnes.

Lovely area. Is Dartington the school with issues around the building? Not sure.

Have you checked out secondary catchment? I would think about south dartmoor catchment if you can.

Plus if your husband is commuting from Totnes to Exeter every day, that is quite a commute.

Yeah it's 30 mins by car I think so should be doable. The a38 is good I understand.

Yes Dartington is the Eco-building which subsequently leaked and the pupils are all on temporary classrooms until the rebuild is finished (estimated early 2018 I think).

I have kids who were there until last year. It's a lovely school and the curriculum is nicely broad. It's nurturing and places great value on social and emotional development. There is a very active PTA which puts on lots of events for children.

I'd be very wary of thinking that a commute to Exeter would be 30 minutes though. Getting to the edge, maybe, but Exeter traffic is terrible and it takes an age to get anywhere within the city itself.

I agree about the commute. Would expect it to take an hour first thing.
