Definitely Savernake - as you can guess by my username!

Crofton Beam Engines aren't free but are good value for money.

Avebury - walking round the stones is free, although the main car park isn't. However you can park outside the village and walk in if you want to wear them out a bit more. The Silbury Hill carpark is free and the footpath gets you to the village in about 20 minutes.

If you get National Trust membership you can access the museum bit and Avebury Manor, as well as Lacock Abbey, Stourhead House and Gardens etc. I found membership paid for itself if I was holidaying in the UK, especially the beach car parks.
