Kings Lynn and surrounding areas

Well moving on from my last post 'Moving to Norfolk' we are now looking at the surrounding areas to Kings Lynn and then buy a static caravan next to the sea. What areas of Kings Lynn is best to avoid? Schools? Child minders as I work full time? Would love to hear your views! Jo x

Hi I live in a village about 5 miles from kings lynn, almost all the villages round here are nice as are the schools. In town I would suggest North or South Wootton or Reffley. These have a good number of schools, preschools and childminders. How old is your child? That may help as some day nurseries in the villages offer full day care 51 weeks of the year from 2 years old.
I love living where I live fantastic school, close to woods, beach and can get to Norwich in 40 minutes :) feel free to pm me any other questions

Hi. Thanks for getting back to me. My son is 10! But still my baby. I remember the days of nurseries and my bank balance has just about recovered! Its great to hear that the surrounding areas have a good community spirit. I am also a cub leader at present and I would love to continue. Do you know of any cub groups near by. I also have a cake business that will be coming too! Having to start again with making friends will be exciting! xx

Lots of cub groups in the area and they are always keen for help!!
There is a school at Gayton about 7 miles from Kings Lynn which has wrap round care and holiday care, only closes a week at Christmas. My sons school (also 10 going into year 6) has spaces but no wrap round care, though 2 or 3 childminders collect from there. The villages around me (Grimston, Gayton, Pott Row, Massingham) all have active groups going on for both children and adults and on the whole is a lovely place to live if you want to steer clear of town! Not sure about villages in clenchwarton, terrington area as that is the complete opposite direction to where we live.

I live in Massingham and previously lived in Gayton.
I have found Massingham nicer, the people are friendlier and there is real community spirit. My DH is a TA at the primary and all 4 of our dd's have been very happy there. There is a village shop, pub, social club, school, preschool and a few activities for kids such as youth club, tennis club, messy play at the church etc. There is a lack of childcare though, a couple of child minders and the preschool.

How funny you should say that Sophie! I lived in Gayton for 10 years before moving to Pott Row. Gayton was definitely a harder village to get to know people in!!!

Phew not just me then! I lived there from 2001-2005 and was a social pariah all of that time. I tried baby clinic, toddler groups and the preschool and still couldn't break into the clique Thankfully Great Massingham was much more accepting and we have been here 11 years now happily :)

Massingham is lovely. My inlaws are in Harpley which is just down the road.

I'm nearer Swaffham.
