Norfolk is a big county, I wouldn't drive from Yarmouth to KLynn just because something was "free". Could you narrow down the geography a bit more? And when, next week or some other time of yr (thinking of weather & opening dates).

Some ideas.. There is a lot of great events and festivals:

This annual festival is brilliant

Great Yarmouth

Also have a look on the forestry commission website for ideas of things to do and woods to visit.

Geocaching

See The seals at horsey beach

Mud sliding at Blakeney

Crabbing at Blakeney or Cromer pier

Sainsburys art centre

Fireworks at Yarmouth

High lodge (although have to pay to park)

Great list from NameNumber2.

I was going to say there are lots of kids play days in the parks in Norwich, but they finished last week.

There's a contemporary art exhibition at the forum, Norwich and the Heritage a open Days have free events in early September, some just drop in. My dd did some bell ringing one year, quite fun but hard work!

Mousehold Heath is lovely as is Earlham Park (near the Sainsbury's Centre).

We love High Lodge at Thetford Forest, lots to do, but you pay to park.
