Water Shortage in Merton

Does anyone know when the water pressure is going to be restored to Colliers Wood/Mitcham? It's been off since about 2pm yesterday and was still off this morning?

Yesterday evening Thames Water was suggesting that water could be collected from a collection point close to the Wimbledon Fire Station on KIngston Road.

We've been told via Twitter that Siobhain McDonagh (MP for Mitcham & Morden) is on the case, speaking directly to Thames Water.

It would seem that there is no particular logic to the parts of SW19, SW17 and CR4 still affected. There are schools in SW19 still open but others are closed (including Singlegate in Colliers Wood).

Any updates will be added to this thread ASAP.

Thanks for raising the subject, twistedblister

Kingston Road is still closed and the traffic is absolutely awful - avoid if you can.

I've been told by two separate sources that there are other burst water mains issues in Mitcham Lane and Haydons Road now.

I feel dutibound to say 'it never rains but it pours'. Excuse the pun Blush.

Not particularly impressed that distribution of bottled water was initially only at one point (on Kingston Road), some considerable distance from lots of the affected areas. Understand that by yesterday lunchtime alternative supplies were available in Colliers Wood. Even so, accessible by car but not entirely convenient for more vulnerable residents.

At least it's sorted out now though.
