advice needed Peebles

We are looking to move to Scotland with my Husbands job. He will be working in Livingston. I have 3 children 12, 9 and 4. So really looking for a nice place to bring them up and good schools. Am quite keen on Peebles and the surrounding area. Just wondered what people think of the commute from here to Livingston. Is it do-able? My husbands commute at the moment is regularly over an hour.

Peebles is lovely but the commute to Livingston would be pretty long. You can get there in an hour outside of rush hour. But during rush hour it would be at least 1.5 hrs. I don't live in Peebles but my DC go to school there and are a similar age to yours. Definitely a lovely place to bring them up, if you don't mind the commute.

I live in peebles and it is fantastic for kids, really nice area but it is a fairly long commute to Livingston.
