Is Monkseaton a good place to live?

After looking at a lot of places, we are pretty sure that we'd like to relocate from London to Monkseaton near Whitley Bay. I am actually from the area, but haven't lived there for over 25 years. Can anyone tell me whether it is a good area to live in terms of good quality of life for families, amenities in the local area, crime etc? Also, any feedback on primary schools would be really appreciated.

I don't know about the primary schools
(I'm in North Shields and DS isn't school ages yet) but the coast is a great place to live for families. There's always something going on or somewhere to visit. We moved up here nearly two years ago (I'm also from near here originally but it had been a long time) and I'm so glad we did.
I find it really easy to get around as well, I use the metro a lot to take DS into Newcastle.

hi lollieb monkseaton is a lovely area i live in whitley bay we moved here 3 yrs ago fron london . it has some brilliant schools. it is very safe where we live my teenage children feel safe when out late at night one of the reasons we moved here our quality of life is so much better we have the beach 5 mins walk and the countryside fifteen mins in the car.there is a metro station in monkseaton very reliable.im also from newcastle but lived in london for 31 yrs.
