Advice needed: a day out for a 12-year old boy plus mates

Hi,
we'll be coming back to Edinburgh for a week after having spent a few years there and plan to take some of our son's friends (all aged around 12-13) for a day out. Any advice on what would be a good place to go? Our first choice was Laserquest in Dalry Rd, but now I see online it's been closed.
Any advice greatly appreciated!

Could you get a climbing session at Ratho booked? They have a really cool one now that always seems to be booked up!

keiratomm · 12/06/2016 21:44

Thanks a lot, Buckeyedjim! I'll look at that. we still have a few weeks to go.

When are you coming? If it's over festival time, take them to a show?

keiratomm · 13/06/2016 17:12

Dear lonny, thank you for your suggestion. Any shows you'd recommend?

and catdil, the combatchallenge is a tad too really military-looking for my liking...

The climbing session is only for an hour and ££££s

It seems to be not so easy anymore to entertain the kids. When they were toddlers all you had to do was get a football and put some biscuits out. Now their demands have increased considerably...

I haven't got round to getting my festival programme yet but there will be a few good choices for that age group.

Blowninonabreeze · 13/06/2016 21:41

Have a look for a puzzle room. Most cities seem to have them now and I'd imagine they'd appeal well to that age group

This place is the favourite for my D.SC. and his mates www.foxlake.co.uk/

Buckeyedjim · 14/06/2016 09:10

That place looks great 3nation, is it new? Have never heard of it before. Expensive but really different!

Buckeyedjim · 14/06/2016 09:12

Moomish the clip and climb thing at Ratho is £8 for a child, not excessively high really - a bloody soft play is over a fiver these days.

Moomish · 14/06/2016 17:51

Not if you want to do the vertical drop slide..and why wouldn't you...that's £2.50 extra eaxh

3nationedinburgh · 14/06/2016 20:07

Another suggestion is this indoor trampoline place out near Dalkeith www.ryzeedinburgh.com/

Foxlake down East Lothian for water sports is good fun.
