Hi- just looking for some genuine advice on reasons to move to Winchester!
Everything I've read seems really positive but need info on
Best areas to live in...budget 2-3M
Preferably not rural but close to centre-walkable to good cafes/shops etc.
private schools- we have 2 girls under age 6.
Is it easy to meet people/make friends etc??
We are living in Channel Islands presently and love it but miss proximity to city life etc!

Hi, I live in Winchester. Just interested in your reasons for moving, do you need to be in this area or do you just like the look of the city? It is nice. We moved two years ago and found people pretty friendly. I would say with your bugdet you should look at Hyde, Fullflood or most probably St Cross. If you don't want state schools the St Giles Hill area might be good and is close to St Swithens which is girls day and boarding school.

Winchester has lots of pros there is always something happening, loads of cultural stuff, very kid friendly and community spirited. On the other hand it's still lacks a few things like a nice gym or any shops you'd want to shop in. If you want to PM me I can give you details of a relocation agent I know, who I've heard is quite good.
