Hello,
Before I start I must just say that I am a theatre producer in Greater Manchester so you may feel my views biased. Having said that I am a father of two young kids and I want to know your views please.
For the last 10 years I have been producing christmas theatre for the under 10's. We perform in the Oldham library theatre space, a 100 seater venue in the heart of the town.
My question is, why is so hard to get schools in the area visit?
We have professional actors, a chorus of young people and everyone who has seen us returns year on year, but getting them in the first place is near impossible.
We charge no more than £7 per kid and we usually have santa at the end.
Schools, I have found prefer the more expensive theatres, whose shows, I think are too long for little minds.
Any help welcomed..
