Osteopath for glue ear

Hi,

I wondered if anyone could recommend a really good osteopath for my son who had recurrent glue ear? I have heard that they can help the eustacian tube to drain by adjusting the position of the neck a bit.

Thanks!

Hi not an osteopath but my DS' s doctor recommended this www.gluear.co.uk/buy/ seems to be working

Thanks for that. I've ordered one and am crossing my fingers that it works. :-)

If your son has recurrent glue ear then they should be able to get grommets fitted. He will have to have a hearing test to see how much his hearing is affected first. My son had grommets and the effect was instant.

Grommets really helped my DS as welll. However a year after his op he still had some glue ear so hence e doctor recommended this. Some children have a number of grommets ops and still comes back - I don't know why this isn't recommended more

Yes I've read that a lot of children have several grommet ops and then scarring to the ear drum that causes permanent deafness. That's why I'm really quite keen to look into the alternatives. My ds has already had two ENT operations before the age of 3 and I would really rather not have any more.

Marc Deora at www.osteopath4kids.co.uk/ specialises in children (though he also helps adults, including me). He's genuinely wonderful at what he does. I got the recommendation off another Cambridge MNer on this board a few years ago - she said 'I'm an Osteopath and I go to Marc', which was good enough for me! Friends of mine have tried other osteos at the same practice very happily.

I would highly recommend John Lant www.johnlant.co.uk

I would recommend you call him up and ask him first if he can help with this issue. When my daughter had severe colic, he was the only osteopath that was honest enough to tell me that osteopathy wouldn't help and I need to get her medically checked. He also worked magic on my back in pregnancy, with one treatment that took away the severe back pain.

I wouldn't recommend Marc mentioned above. My daughter was severely distressed after seeing him, and he showed very little understanding or sympathy towards me.

AimUnder do you know that John has passed away?

Seeking, oh no, that's very very sad news, I had no idea! :(

He was such a lovely man, so honest and caring, and I was hoping to use his services again in pregnancy too.
